Lost sock day is about finding all the odd socks that you may have lying about at home and throwing them out. If they have lost their sole-mate they need to go!
Whilst we are on the topic of socks lets discuss fungal nails too. Fungal nails can be unsightly and many of the population will turn to a podiatrist for help, although fungal nails can prove difficult to get rid of. Fungal nails do not happen overnight and unfortunately, we cannot fix them in one treatment either, but we can help.
Fungal nails are usually caused by an overgrowth of natural fungi on the skin attacking the nail in, under or on the nail itself. Fungus thrives in warm, moist environments so this type of environment can cause the fungus to naturally overpopulate.
So, what do my socks have to do with nail fungus?
Well, there are many things you can be doing at home to help reduce the risk of toenail infection.
- Wash and dry feet thoroughly
- Wash socks at 60oC to kill off any spores in the socks
- Always put clean socks on
- Rotate footwear so each has a chance to breathe
